Empty cart

Open Theme settings → Cart. The cart page and cart drawer share the empty-state settings. This guide covers the empty cart only; for appearance, spending goals, recommendations, and tools when the cart has items, see Cart.

SettingDefaultHow to use it
Show collections when the cart is emptyOnOffer actual collection navigation when eligible collections exist.
Featured collectionsNot selectedChoose up to six collections. When empty, the theme uses available store collections; empty collections and all/frontpage handles are skipped.
Maximum collections3Show 1–6 eligible collection links.
Collection layoutThree-column gridThree-column grid / Image and title list.
Collection image ratioSquareSquare / Portrait.
Continue shopping linkEmptyUse the all-products collection, or choose another real destination.

The empty-cart heading and text use the theme’s translated defaults; there is no separate override field.

Collection artwork uses its actual featured image, then its first product image. Missing images do not create fake products. Without eligible collections, the cart keeps the explanation and Continue shopping link.

Choose two or three useful collections, and point Continue shopping link at the page shoppers are most likely to browse next. Test both an empty and populated cart, the mobile drawer, long collection names, and a store with no eligible collections.

The empty-cart links work without scripts. Actual cart updates, shipping estimates, and checkout eligibility require their usual Shopify data and setup.

Why does the empty cart show only text and a button? Usually there are no eligible collections: Featured collections is empty and the store has no published non-empty collections, or Show collections when the cart is empty is off.
