Product

For stores using tax-inclusive pricing, the Price content block displays the included-tax notice. The notice follows the store pricing configuration and updates with the selected variant; it has no separate theme toggle.

Product shows the current product’s media, options, price, and purchase controls. The product selected for preview supplies the data; the template supplies the arrangement shared by products assigned to it.

Use Product content for longer descriptions, care information, tables, and the secondary purchase card. Use Custom option for shopper-entered personalization and Product note for a simple optional note.

  1. In Shopify admin, open Online Store → Themes and open the theme editor for the theme you want to change.
  2. Open Products in the template selector and choose the template you want to edit.
  3. Choose a real product to preview and select Product in the sidebar.
  4. Add or reorder its content blocks, then save.

To give a group of products a different arrangement, create a product template and assign it to the relevant products in Shopify admin. Creating a template does not assign it automatically. Changing a shared template affects every product using it. See Shopify’s template guide.

Gallery layout offers Thumbnails, for switching between media using smaller previews, and Stacked, for displaying media in a vertical arrangement. Product photos, videos, and 3D media come from the product’s media in Shopify.

  1. Choose Thumbnails for Gallery layout.
  2. Keep Title, Price, Variant picker, Quantity selector, and Buy buttons in an order that makes shopping clear.
  3. Decide whether Title → Show vendor should be on.
  4. In Buy buttons, turn off Show store purchase statement unless your store has an accurate purchase statement to show.
  5. Put longer information in Product content directly after Product.
  6. Save, change a variant, add a test item to the cart, and check its price, quantity, and any personalization.

To show pickup, configure pickup and inventory for your locations in Shopify, then add Pickup availability in Product. No pickup information appears if the selected variant has no pickup-enabled locations. Changing a variant refreshes the information. The default product template includes this block; other templates can add it.

The Buy buttons form includes native Shop Pay installment messaging. Shopify decides whether your store, market, and purchase qualify; the theme does not create an installment offer. Keep Show dynamic checkout buttons enabled for ordinary eligible products. Personalization and gift card recipient flows use Add to cart.

For Show gift card recipient form, a shopper can choose to send the card to someone else. Recipient email is required when that choice is on. Recipient name allows up to 255 characters, the message up to 200, and an optional send date up to 90 days ahead. An empty date sends after purchase. The browser supplies its time zone when available; Shopify uses the store time zone otherwise. Shopify validates the final submission. Gift-card quick-purchase entries lead to the full product page so these fields are available.

Custom Liquid is an advanced field. Duplicate your theme before adding custom code. Check its provider’s support policy and ask a Shopify Partner for help when needed. Empty content is hidden in the editor and storefront.

Upload accurate product media and descriptions in Products in Shopify admin. Use consistent photos and check both gallery layouts on a phone. Ratings come from the product’s review data; adding a Rating block does not create a rating.

For separate descriptions per product, use product data or compatible dynamic sources rather than typing one product’s details into a template shared by many products.

  • Description in Product and Description in Product content read the same product description. Use one unless you intentionally want it twice.
  • Accordion row and Size guide combine typed Content and selected Content from page in that order; choosing a page does not replace the typed content.
  • Prices, inventory, options, and quantity pricing come from Shopify product data. Text blocks do not change stock, shipping rates, or prices.
  • Dynamic checkout visibility also depends on platform eligibility and your store configuration. It is hidden when the main form has Custom option content blocks.
  • Real pickup inventory, payment eligibility, and gift card delivery are managed by Shopify. Test the purchase flow in your store after configuring them.
  • The separate Gift card guide describes the issued card’s redemption page, not its purchase form.

Everyday product: use Thumbnails, enable Show breadcrumbs, and include Title, Price, Variant picker, Quantity selector, Buy buttons, and a Size guide with your actual sizing page.

Personalized product: keep the same purchase blocks, add Custom option with Option type set to Single-line text, and enable Make required. Follow the product-level quick-purchase setup before using this template for personalization.

Why do several products show the same extra text? They share a template. Use a separate template or a supported dynamic source for product-specific information.

Why is the rating missing? The Rating block only displays real review data. Check the product’s review data and the app supplying it.

Why is a payment button missing? Check the Buy buttons switch, Custom option content blocks, and the store’s platform eligibility. Do not remove required personalization to force the button to appear.

Can I change the checkout page here? No. Shopify’s checkout and customer account appearance are managed separately from this product template.

Choose Native swatches or Text and Circle or Square under Theme settings → Product swatches. Product option names remain visible; missing swatch data uses text. See Product cards and swatches for setup and limits.
