Trust bar

The Trust bar is a one-line strip of icons and short promises, like Free shipping or Easy returns. It gives shoppers a quick reason to keep browsing.

Use it near the top of the home page, above the footer, or next to product grids — anywhere shoppers hesitate. Each item is one icon plus two lines of text you write yourself.

The bar displays your promises; it does not set them up. Free shipping, returns, and payment security are configured in your Shopify admin (shipping rates, refund policy, and so on) — make sure the bar matches what your store actually offers.

  1. In Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes and click Edit theme. (Older admin versions label this button Customize.)
  2. Open the template where you want the section.
  3. Click Add section and choose Trust bar.
  4. The section is added with three Trust item blocks already in place — edit those instead of adding new ones first (see Set it up: quick start).
  5. Save.

Three settings shape the look; there are no separate layouts to pick from:

SettingDefaultOptionsWhat it does
BackgroundLightLight / DarkLight shows white cards on the page background; Dark shows the strip on the theme’s dark footer color
LayoutCardCard / Inline rowCard gives each promise its own small card; Inline row lines the promises up in one continuous row
Icon stylePlain iconPlain icon / Tinted circleTinted circle puts each icon inside a soft pastel circle
  1. Add the section — it starts with three example items: “Free shipping / On orders over $49”, “100% Natural / Healthy & safe products”, and “Vet approved / Quality you can trust”.
  2. Click each Trust item block and set the Icon, Heading, and Text to a promise your store actually keeps. Replace all three, including the marketing claims — don’t leave an example promise on the page that you can’t stand behind.
  3. Delete an item you don’t need (select the block and use Remove block), or add another Trust item for each extra promise (three or four works best).
  4. Save and check the strip on the phone preview — the items share the width, so keep each text short.

See the table under Choose a style — Background, Layout, and Icon style are all the section settings there are.

  • The icons come from the theme’s built-in set — you don’t upload images here.
  • Keep headings to 2–3 words (“Free shipping”, “30-day returns”) and the text line under ~30 characters so the strip stays on one line on phones.
  • Write only promises your store keeps. If the bar says “Free shipping over $49”, set up the matching shipping rate in your Shopify admin — the bar is text, not a rule.
  • On phones the items sit side by side in equal columns, so four short items fit better than two long ones.
  • Dark background pairs well with the footer. Placing a Dark trust bar right above the footer makes the two blend into one block of color.

Reassurance under the hero. Light background, Card layout, Tinted circle icons: “Free shipping / On orders over $49”, “30-day returns / No questions asked”, “Secure checkout / Shopify-protected payments”.

Pre-footer strip. Dark background, Inline row, Plain icons, three items — a quiet final reassurance before the footer.

The bar says free shipping but checkout still charges shipping. The bar only shows text. Set up free shipping rates in your Shopify admin (Settings → Shipping and delivery) so the store matches the promise.

My second item wraps onto two lines. Shorten the Heading or Text — on phones each item gets a narrow column, and long text wraps.

Can I use my own icon image? Not in this section. Pick the closest icon from the built-in set, or use a Multicolumn section if you need custom images.
