About us

The About us section pairs a photo or video with your brand story and a short list of selling points — a friendly “who we are” block for the home page or an about page.

Use it where shoppers decide whether to trust you: mid-home-page or at the top of an About page. One text block tells the story; each Feature item block adds a one-line proof point (“Trusted by pet lovers”, “Family-owned since 2019”).

  1. In Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes and click Edit theme. (Older admin versions label this button Customize.)
  2. Open the template where you want the section.
  3. Click Add section and choose About us (or About us — banner to start with the full-width look).
  4. Write your Heading and Text, upload an Image, and add Feature item blocks for your proof points.
  5. Save.

The Layout setting switches between three looks:

StyleLookNotes
Split (default)Media on one side, a soft-colored card with text on the otherImage position swaps the sides
CenteredMedia centered above centered text
BannerMedia and text inside a full-width colored band

The card or band uses a Card background tint — one of four soft pastel colors.

  1. Add the section and keep the Split layout.
  2. Upload an Image (or set a video — see below).
  3. Replace the demo Text with your story, and edit the Feature item lines.
  4. Save and check the phone preview — the media stacks above the text.

  • Image: landscape around 1600×1200 works well. A transparent PNG cutout also looks good against the tint card.
  • Video: upload to Shopify for the smoothest autoplay handling, or paste a YouTube/Vimeo link. The uploaded video wins when both are set; the Image doubles as the cover.
  • Keep each Feature item to one short line — they read as a scannable list, not paragraphs.
  • On phones the media sits above the text in every layout, so portrait crops look fine even from a landscape photo.
  • Write your own proof points. The demo line “Trusted by pet lovers” is an example — replace it with facts about your store.
  • One media channel wins. With both a Shopify-hosted video and a video URL set, the uploaded video plays; with neither, the section shows the Image.

Family-brand story. Split layout, Image position Left, Apricot tint, photo of the team, three Feature items (“Family-owned since 2019”, “Small-batch treats”, “Donates to local shelters”), button “Read our story”.

Quiet intro. Centered layout, no media, heading “Why we started”, two short paragraphs — a text-only welcome block.

My video doesn’t autoplay. Behavior depends on the browser; muted autoplay works in most, and shoppers can always tap play. YouTube/Vimeo links open in their own player.

The tint card looks too strong / too plain. Pick another Card background tint — the four colors are theme-wide pastels, so any section using the same tint stays consistent.

I added a Feature item but don’t see it. Feature items appear under the text inside the card — make sure the block has text and the section was saved.
