Product content

Product content organizes longer product information below Product. It can show descriptions, features, care instructions, expandable text, a scale, a table, a two-product comparison, an image, sharing links, and a real event countdown.

An optional desktop purchase card and mobile purchase bar use the main product’s selected variant, quantity, and personalization. They appear only while the shopper is within this content section and the main purchase area has scrolled far enough away.

  1. In Shopify admin, open Online Store → Themes and open the theme editor for the theme you want to change.
  2. Choose a product template and select Add section → Product content if the section is not already present.
  3. Place it directly after Product.
  4. The section is added with four content blocks already in place — Description, Product features, Product notes, and Care instructions. Edit or remove those before adding new blocks, and save.

This section is for product templates. It is different from the reusable Product details section that annotates a photo with numbered markers.

Choose Dividers for information separated by lines, or Cards for grouped content cards. Background tint sets the soft pastel color; None (white) removes the pastel treatment.

  1. Choose Dividers and keep Background tint at None (white).
  2. Work through the four starting blocks instead of adding new ones: open Product features and Care instructions and replace their sample items with your real information, replace the sample text in Product notes, and remove any starting block you don’t need with Remove block. Keep Description (it has no settings) — adding a second one would duplicate the product’s description on the page.
  3. Turn on Show desktop purchase card and Show mobile purchase bar.
  4. Leave Show when main product remaining height is at most (%) at 10.
  5. Save, scroll from Product into this section, and test the purchase control with the intended variant and any required personalization.

You can add up to 30 content blocks. Each type can be repeated within that total.

Use Add block inside the section to add content, then drag content blocks to change their order.

The original five setting IDs and saved content remain. For the shared input rules, mobile behavior, examples, empty states, and independent section or theme-block entry, see Data table.

To configure this block, select Product content → Add block → Table, enter the column names, replace the example dash rows with your actual data, and choose Table style. For cards, choose Table style → Cards inside Table. The standalone Data table section uses the same three styles.

The section’s Layout and Background tint control the surrounding Product content area; the Table block’s Table style and Background tint control this table. Introduction, Full width, Top spacing, and Bottom spacing belong to the independent Data table section and are not Table block settings. For product-specific materials, connect Table rows to one compatible product metafield containing the complete rows, then check two products and one missing-value product. Static text is shared by products using this template; settings in a separate Data table instance are not synchronized.

Select Add block → Product comparison, then choose Layout → Highlighted columns, Comparison rows, or Text and comparison. This is separate from the ordinary Table block.

The block has the same 20 content settings as the independent Product comparison section. Full width, Top spacing, and Bottom spacing belong only to that independent section; Product content controls this block’s outer layout. See the complete Product comparison guide for all settings, defaults, data rules, and examples.

Choose the two products or enter titles and images manually. An empty First product uses the page’s current product; Second product has no automatic fallback. In Comparison rows, enter one paragraph per feature, with exactly three cells: Feature|First value|Second value. New instances include three neutral example rows; replace them with accurate product information. Clearing every row hides the component. A row with too few or too many cells is hidden, unlike the ordinary Table’s missing/extra-cell handling.

Highlighting is chosen by you. Only explicit ✓, ✕, or — prefixes create status icons. Switching layouts keeps the data; switching highlights does not swap the products. The independent section and this block do not synchronize content automatically.

The comparison adapts to its available content-column width. Text and comparison may stack even on desktop when the purchase column is enabled. Cards does not add a second card around it. The optional detail button navigates to its configured link or highlighted store product; this section’s purchase controls continue to use the page’s main product.

SettingDefaultOptionsWhat it does
Custom LiquidProduct informationCustom contentAdd your own custom content. Empty content is hidden. Third-party customizations need their own support and compatibility checks.

Feature and care items each have six sets of Title, Text, Icon, and Custom icon settings. Custom icons replace built-in icons; use transparent 160 × 160 px images. An item with neither a title nor text stays hidden.

For a table, set Column headings to Size|Chest|Length and enter one measured size per row. Use your product’s real measurements; the starting dashes are layout examples, not sizing advice. Tables can scroll horizontally on narrow screens.

For different content per product, create suitable product metafields and use the dynamic-source button beside a compatible setting. Use text for headings, formatted text for explanations, images for custom icons, and a page reference for Content from page when Shopify offers that connection. Not every field accepts every data type.

For product-specific countdowns, define custom.pawly_countdown_end as Date and time, enter each product’s actual deadline, and leave End date and time empty. A manually entered date takes priority. Do not use a countdown for an offer that has no real deadline.

  • Description reads the same product description as the Product section’s Description block. Avoid showing both unintentionally.
  • Product notes and Collapsible content display typed text followed by selected page content. They are not shopper-entered personalization.
  • Empty content is hidden in both the storefront and the editor. A missing or invalid countdown does not create a sample running timer. Without browser scripting, a configured countdown shows its deadline as text.
  • The purchase controls submit the main form’s gift card recipient fields too. Choose a valid recipient email and date before adding the gift card.
  • The secondary purchase controls need the main Product section and meaningful content here. They do not remain visible after leaving this section.
  • Edit product options returns to the main product form. Missing required personalization returns the shopper to the relevant input. The secondary control does not create another set of file or text fields.
  • While the mobile purchase bar is visible, Pawglade’s mobile bottom navigation and floating tools are hidden to avoid overlap. Opening a menu or cart hides the purchase bar temporarily.
  • With browser scripting disabled, information remains readable, while the secondary purchase controls are hidden.
  • Custom Liquid is an advanced input, not a promise that third-party content will work with every app. Duplicate your theme before adding custom code and ask a Shopify Partner for help when needed. Support for third-party customization should be confirmed with its provider.

Care-focused page: choose Dividers, Background tint → Mint, and add Product features, Care instructions, and Collapsible content headed “Materials.” Keep both purchase controls on and the threshold at 10.

Technical product: choose Cards, add Table with Column headings “Size|Chest|Length,” and add Product scale using your documented 0–100 measure. Set the threshold to 0 if the purchase controls should wait until Product has completely left the top of the screen.

Two-product choice: add Product comparison, choose the two products and a highlighted product, then enter accurate three-cell comparison rows. Use Note for comparison conditions or a source. This is independent of the page’s main purchase form.

Why is the purchase card missing? Check its switch, place this section directly after Product, add real content, and scroll far enough. It is not intended to float throughout the whole page.

Why does my information appear on several products? The template is shared. Use separate templates or compatible product data for differences.

Why did my table disappear? Both Column headings and Table rows need content. Clear example rows only after entering the real ones.

Why is Product comparison hidden? Comparison rows needs at least one row with exactly three cells, a non-empty feature name, and at least one product value. New blocks include neutral examples, but explicitly saved empty or invalid content stays hidden. It does not use the ordinary Table’s Column headings setting.

Can Product notes collect a customer message? No. Use Product note or Custom option for shopper input.
