Newsletter
The Newsletter section is a compact sign-up box: a heading, a short promise, an email field, and a submit button.
What it does
Section titled “What it does”This is an in-page signup section. For an invitation shown according to display frequency, use Marketing popup under Overlays. Newsletter signup inside the footer is configured in Footer.
Use it wherever shoppers might subscribe, such as above the footer or after a blog post. Shopify processes submissions; check the actual email marketing status in Customers. With double opt-in enabled, shoppers also need to complete the steps in their confirmation email.
The section collects — it doesn’t send. Welcome emails and campaigns go out from your email platform (Shopify Email or an app), not from this box.
Add it to a page
Section titled “Add it to a page”- In Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes and click Edit theme. (Older admin versions label this button Customize.)
- Open the template where you want the section.
- Click Add section and choose Newsletter.
- Write your heading and the promise line, pick an icon.
- Save — then test with your own address.
Choose a style
Section titled “Choose a style”Two settings shape the look:
| Setting | Default | Options | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Color scheme | Scheme 1 | Your store’s color schemes | Colors of the box |
| Icon | None / Mail / Paw / Gift | A small decorative icon above the heading |
Set it up: quick start
Section titled “Set it up: quick start”- Add the section above the footer.
- Replace the demo text with your real offer (“Treats, tips and 10% off your first order” — only promise what you’ll deliver).
- Save, then subscribe with your own email and confirm it appears in Customers.
Settings
Section titled “Settings”Section settings
Section titled “Section settings”| Setting | Default | Options | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Color scheme | Scheme 1 | Your store’s color schemes | Background and text colors |
| Icon | None / Mail / Paw / Gift | Small icon above the heading | |
| Heading | “Join the pack” | Text | Section title |
| Text | (demo paragraph) | Text | Your promise — what subscribers actually get |
Images and content tips
Section titled “Images and content tips”- Text only — keep the promise to one line.
- State the benefit plainly (discount, early access, care tips); vague “join our newsletter” boxes convert worse.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Check subscription status in Shopify Customers, then export or sync to your email platform according to the actual marketing status.
- Submission feedback is built in according to Shopify’s response. Check email confirmation and delivery separately; duplicate addresses do not always return one fixed error.
- Only promise what you’ll send. If the box says “10% off your first order”, set up that discount in Shopify before publishing.
Example setups
Section titled “Example setups”Pre-footer box. Paw icon, “Join the pack”, one-line promise — the classic placement above the footer.
Blog companion. Gift icon, “Get care tips monthly”, placed under blog posts via the blog template.
Common questions
Section titled “Common questions”Do emails get sent automatically after someone subscribes? Not from this box — it only collects addresses. Set up a welcome email in Shopify Email or your email app.
Where do I find my subscribers? Shopify admin → Customers, filtered by email subscription status.
The form says this email is already subscribed. Find the address in Customers and check its marketing status, then follow the actual response. Shopify determines duplicate-address responses; on-page confirmation does not mean a welcome email was delivered.
